Our Story

Bel Ombre Primary School boasts a rich history intertwined with the fabric of Seychelles. Founded over 130 years ago as a humble wooden building, it has witnessed generations blossom within its walls. From its early days catering to a handful of students to its modern incarnation accommodating over 400, Bel Ombre has embraced transformation while holding fast to its core values.

Through decades of growth, the school has navigated challenges and celebrated triumphs. From makeshift classrooms under the sun to the construction of dedicated facilities, each step has paved the way for a vibrant learning environment. Past headteachers like Mrs Faure and Mrs Gonthier paint a picture of dedicated educators nurturing young minds, a tradition carried forward by the current team under Mrs Payet.

Today, Bel Ombre stands as a beacon of academic excellence and holistic development. Modern classrooms, specialist rooms, and a flourishing community foster a love for learning and individual growth. The legacy of resilience, collaboration, and dedication weaves through every aspect of the school, empowering future generations to reach their full potential.

Our Testimonials

Samaël Hoareau

My name is Samaël Hoareau. I am 9 years old. I moved to Bel-Ombre school last year. It did not take long for me to fit in as the teachers and students welcomed and accepted me. I especially like Bel-Ombre primary school because I get a lot of opportunities to participate in different activities: physical, cultural and social. I feel like I belong. I will always remember the time spent at this wonderful school.

My wife and I have been associated with the Belombre primary school for almost two years now and we can attest to some wonderful attributes of the school which are important to our family. Firstly, the staff are friendly, approachable and they always greet us with a genuine smile.  The first time our son went to that school all the staff made us feel welcome and helped our son to settle in.  Secondly, as it is a small school it has a real community feel.   It is always a good feeling to send our child in an environment that is safe and conducive to learning. Thirdly, the communication between the school and parents has always been very good.  The teachers always involve parents in school activities and we have never once been treated as outsiders.  Finally, we find that the teachers put their heart and soul into their job and genuinely care about the wellbeing and success of the children.
