After two decades of serving our community, Bel Ombre Primary School marked its 20th anniversary on June 1st, 2025. It was a nice day that brought together students, staff, parents, and some special guests to celebrate this milestone.
A Special Visit
The celebration got a boost when First Lady Mrs. Linda Ramkalawan joined us for the day, along with Honorable Member Mr. Sandy John Arissol and representatives from the Catholic Church. Having these community leaders attend showed the respect our school has earned over the years.
Our Head Teacher gave a thoughtful speech reflecting on the school’s journey, and it was meaningful to see the First Lady help cut our anniversary cake. The students were clearly excited to have such important visitors at their school.
Students Take Center Stage
The day featured student performances that families had been looking forward to. Kids sang, danced, and showcased what they’d been working on, and you could see the pride on parents’ faces as they watched from the audience. The stage setup worked well, and our DJ kept things moving between the formal parts.
It’s always satisfying to watch our students perform confidently in front of a crowd, knowing how much preparation went into their presentations.
Recognition and Awards
We took the opportunity to recognize staff members who’ve contributed significantly to our school over the years. Some have been with us for a long time, and their dedication deserved acknowledgment. Students also received trophies for various achievements – academic, behavioral, and extracurricular.
The applause was generous, and it was good to see our community celebrating both the adults and children who make our school what it is.
Community Support
Local businesses and organizations like HSI showed their support through sponsorships and contributions. The buffet was well-stocked thanks to various community members pitching in, which made for a nice shared meal during the celebration.
These partnerships matter. They show that our school isn’t operating in isolation but is genuinely supported by the broader community.
Looking at Two Decades
Twenty years represents a lot of children who’ve come through our doors. We’ve taught siblings, and in some cases, we’re now teaching children of our early graduates. That kind of continuity creates connections that go beyond typical school relationships.
The photo opportunities throughout the day captured both formal moments with dignitaries and casual interactions between families, staff, and students. These pictures will serve as good documentation of where our school stands today.
Moving Forward
Celebrations like this are useful for taking stock of what we’ve accomplished and thinking about future goals. We’ve established ourselves as a reliable part of this community’s educational landscape, and that’s something to build on.
The support we saw on June 1st – from government officials attending to local businesses contributing – suggests our next 20 years will benefit from the same community investment that got us this far.
Thank You
To everyone who attended our anniversary celebration, contributed to its success, or has supported our school over the past 20 years – we appreciate it. Our staff, students, and families make Bel Ombre Primary School what it is, and days like June 1st remind us why we’re here.
Here’s to continuing our work of educating children and serving our community.
